Parker wasn’t sure what had gotten into him but his hand glided slowly back up Ross’ thigh. Ross’ eyes got wider, the closer Parker’s hand got to his erection and they looked like they might fall out of his head when Parker wrapped his hand around the bulge in Ross’ trousers. “Please don’t make me have to orchestrate an accident to cover a stain on the front of my pants.” He whispered and Parker felt his own getting tighter.
“I’m sure it would take a lot more than this.” Parker said under his breath as his hand slid up and down Ross’ length. Ross swallowed and shook his head.
“With you? Not really.” He admitted and Parker stifled a shiver of excitement. “If you don’t behave, we won’t make it through dinner.” Ross warned.
“You know, you didn’t have to take me out. I would have given it up.” Parker teased and Ross narrowed his eyes at him.
“I’m hoping you’re not just pretty and easy.” He murmured. Parker’s jaw fell and Ross laughed as he leaned close. His lips brushed against Parker’s ear and he suddenly felt overdressed as heat swept through him. “I like that you’re easy but I want to learn more about you. And your voice makes my cock hurt.” Ross’ eyes were dark and deep when they found Parker’s. “Talk to me, Parker. You could tell me just about anything and I won’t be able to stop thinking about getting you naked."

Another fantastic read from K. Sterling. As a huge fan of M/M romance, this book had great passion, great sex, emotion and honesty. K. Sterling has a great knack for tapping into emotions and being able to put it down into words. You got invested in the relationship of Ross and Parker very early and I found myself pulling for the HEA. The military aspect of the story was fabulous and she wrote it with a great amount of compassion and truth. I highly recommend all of K. Sterling's books..........she is a wonderful storyteller.Product details

Ok, so this is, I think, the third romance I've read by this author. In general, I like the writing style, the characters, the love triumphing over difficult times, etc.
My only real problem is the sex scenes. The same words and descriptions are used in pretty much every sex scene in all three books. The positions vary, it's all hot and sweaty and intense, all good stuff. But the word choice, for me at least, is awkward as hell and getting too repetitive.
There's clawing and screaming and hands wrapping around faces and lightning shooting through bodies and a blinding, time-stopping moment just before climax and then one character pumps three more times before collapsing. Every. Time. With every character.
Some variety would be nice. And less "wrapping around" of body parts that don't really wrap. Palming, grasping, clutching, cupping, etc. all good. Hands wrapping around a head or face prelude to neck breakage, not a sweet cupping of the face for a kiss. And I don't personally find random clawing sexy. It brings to mind evil creatures with claws and unsexy things. Fingers digging into firm muscle hot. Clawing awkward.
It's funny, I was thinking about writing the review for this book thinking that I'd read several by K. Sterling... it turns out I've only read one prior to this (which I liked), I just have a bunch on my to-read list! Hmm maybe if I'd realized that I'd have quit!
I'm sorry, I have to say it, there's too much sex, not enough plot. WAY too much sex. The tiny bits of plot here and there weren't enough for me. I ended up having to skim through a lot of the sex. I wasn't really invested in the characters and the sex wasn't novel enough to keep me reading it. The plot didn't really get interesting until about 70% of the way in, and then right away it seemed pretty resolved. Thankfully there was then something else after that to make it a little more interesting but... it was just not right. The flow of the book just wasn't good. I kept skimming the sex scenes and wishing it would just be over already. Sad, indeed!
I finally forced myself to come back and finish this. I just didn't see what all the other reviewers saw. There were a number of things that took away from the story for me. One, there was nothing about Parker's former relationship other than bits and pieces, and no run-in with the ex, so there was no drama, angst or excitement there. There was not much about Parker's background at all, and not really any interaction with his family. 85% of the book is just Parker and Ross, and with Ross being away for weeks at a time, most of the time that readers see them they're having sex. They talk some, then have sex. Do some mundane activity, then have sex. Nothing was really interesting to me until Chapter 21 - at 55% in - where Parker was invited to meet Ross' team and their spouses. I didn't care for the body shots part. I guess I'm too much of a prude to put my mouth on a room full of strangers, each in succession, and you don't know what touched that body part before you did or how clean it is. So for 20 chapters of a book that has 35 chapters (though some only a couple of pages) and an epilogue, I was bored.
A couple of other things I didn't much care for I guess when you meet someone on a hookup app, it's a given that you'll do just that. but I don't like when characters jump into unprotected sex, which they did on their 2nd round. Though since they used condoms every time after that until Parker got tested so maybe that was a mistake. Then there was the fact that what Ross did was supposed to be a secret, but considering Ross always told Parker where he was, after the cookout, he pretty much told Parker details of his job, then Brian pretty much told him everything about Ross' last mission. Yet they kept talking about how much of a secret the job was. That was inconsistent. But as I said, once it got to Chapter 21 it was better.
The characters captured me right off and never let go. I so enjoyed this story. I will definitely be reading more from K. Sterling in the future.
The characters Ross and Parker felt so real. In some ways I was sorry that it ended. I wanted more. I hope that they appear again in another book. These was hot but, their emotions were even hotter.
Wow! This is a very well developed romance that makes you turn each page with eager anticipation. Light hearted, deep and complex in so many ways. I just loved Parker and Ross finding each other and creating the kind of relationship that transcends gender roles. Kudos to the author for writing such a wonderful piece!
Another fantastic read from K Sterling. Ross & Parker are seriously hot and their story is sexy, sweet and heartwarming. I think I had a smile on my face the entire time I was reading. This story pulled me in from page one and kept me in their world until the very end (I didn't want it to end). You could feel their connection and the love they have for each other. There were a few tissue moments for me, so have some close by just in case. As with all of K Sterling's books just buy it and you will not be disappointed.
